Cape Canaveral Lighthouse – Throwback Thursday 2013

On many of my drives home from The Cape I would detour our to the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse for some early afternoon photos.

These were taken on June 18th at 5:45 in the afternoon.

A couple quick facts about the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse:

  • Erected in 1868, the Lighthouse is 151 feet tall.
  • The Lighthouse is topped with a 1st Order Fresnel lens.
  • Due to storm surge in 1871, the Lighthouse was moved inland in 1893 and 1894 to its current location.
  • In 1939 the Coast Guard took ownership.
  • In 2000 stewardship was transferred to the 45th Space Wing, Patrick Air Force Base.
