Throwback Thursday (OK – it’s Friday) to the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse – on a cool foggy November morning back in 2016

When the cool air starts to arrive in Central Florida it usually sets up a nice foggy morning out on Cape Canaveral. With lots of land and undeveloped areas out on the Cape, the cool air mixing with the warmer air in November usually sets up a nice foggy drive through Cape Canaveral.\

When this happens I usually detour out to the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse and try and capture the fog surrounding the Lighthouse.

Approaching from the south on Lighthouse Road it was always fun heading towards the Lighthouse shrouded in fog. But on many occasions as I drew closer to the Lighthouse the fog usually dissappated as seen in the photos below.

Entering Cape Canaveral Space Force Station from the South gate took me North on Phillips Parkway and then a rght on Lighthouse road and past several launch sites.

You can barely make out the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse in the photos above – a nice low fog bank almost completely obscures the Lighthuse.

Approaching the Lighthouse from the south and rolling through the fog bank, as you get closer to the Lighthouse – the fog woud usually disappear.

Below are some photos of the Lighthouse on a crisp November morning back in 2016. Enjoy!

About the Author and Photographer: Alden Pitard has over 40 years experience working in the Aerospace Industry at Cape Canaveral, The Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and Boeing locations throughout the country. He has supported the Space Shuttle Program, International Space Station, 787 Dreamliner and most recently the Artemis Program. During his time at "The Cape" he photographed a majority of the Launch Sites at KSC and Cape Canaveral. As the Space Shuttle program was coming to a close in 2011, the author decided to bike to all the Launch Complexes he could and capture the Space Center and Cape Canaveral as it was - thus "Biking through Space Ruins".
